A nature inspired landscape design, sensitively drawn to reflect the Jagera peoples significant connection to land, and the experiences of the Region’s early settlers, has been awarded first place in the Tobruk Memorial Drive Lookout ideas competition. Submitted by built environment specialist firm Arup, the winning design was the standout amongst 11 other highly competitive entries representing individuals and teams from Brisbane, regional Queensland and New South Wales.
Arup offered three unique experiences in their innovative design describing the elements as “sinuous, curvilinear forms inspired by nature’s primodial language and signifying the meeting of people.”
Representatives from Toowoomba Regional Council joined with a panel of external experts in landscape architecture, engineering, community service, architecture and heritage, cultural services and public art, and visual arts, to assess the entries against the competition criteria.
