Toowoomba Regional Council will be offering free mulch to the community this Sunday the 8th of April at the Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility at O’Mara Road, Wellcamp.
Portfolio Leader for Water and Waste Cr Bill Cahill said the creation of mulch from our green waste and offering it to ratepayers was a free monthly service that Council normally would hold on the first Sunday of every month.
“With Easter falling on the first Sunday, Council instead will be asking the community to come on down and collect their free mulch this Sunday, the 8th of April, Cr Cahill said.
“Free mulch can be collected from the O'Mara Road facility at any time during opening times as long as you load it yourself.
“If you would prefer to have the mulch loaded for you, come along this weekend or normally the first Sunday of every month between 9am- 4pm.
“Council provides the mulch for domestic users only and asks you to ensure that your load is covered before you leave the site.”
“Using mulch can help to reduce water consumption in your garden and it may even help you save on your water bill."
Cr Cahill said that greenwaste that is disposed of at any waste facility is stockpiled, processed on a regular basis and made available for collection or used as mulch for rehabilitation at Council waste facilities.
“Mulch is available at other Council facilities during opening hours and subject to availability.
“As the mulch at these other facilities is self-load, customers should bring their own containers and equipment to load the mulch.”
