Aussies celebrate our national day on January 26 in different ways.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is keen to hear residents’ views on their preferences for civic celebrations and the format and range of regional Australia Day awards.
TRC Australia Day coordinating committee chair Cr Mike Williams said a survey would gauge residents’ views on the current events and call for views on prospective changes.
“We want to hear how residents wish to celebrate Australia Day,” Cr Williams said.
“What type of events and activities do residents wish to see organised? We are open to suggestions that people wish to contribute about the type of events and the range of Australia Day awards.
“While Council has oversight of the celebration structure, the respective Australia Day community committees organise and run the existing ceremonies and the awards selection and presentations.
“I encourage residents to offer their views.”
Hard copies of the survey will be available at respective Australia Day ceremonies.
The deadline for responses is Friday, February 7.
