Recycling is one of the best ways to reduce costs in waste management as it reduces the amount of waste that goes into landfill. However, the wrong kind of waste (even in small amounts) can contaminate the whole load entering the waste recovery system.  When this happens the entire load can be rejected by the recycler. For example, a broken drinking glass in a tonne of glass can contaminate a load.
