Your recycling bin

We are proud of the home recycling efforts undertaken by Toowoomba Region residents. But there's still room for improvement! It's time to look at how we can work together to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. The information below will help you choose which products belong in your recycling bin.

To find out your bin collection day, use our Find your bin day tool.

The recycling process

All the waste in your recycling bin (yellow lid) is sorting at a materials recycling facility in Brisbane. Some of the material is baled and exported for further recycling and manufacturing. Placing non-recyclable waste in the recycling bin can cause a lower grade product to be produced in the manufacturing process or the waste can be rejected and landfilled.

How to maintain an uncontaminated recycling bin:

Items that can be placed in the recycling bin

Generally any container that has come from your kitchen, bathroom or laundry, such as:

Items that should not go in the recycling bin

The above list are all contaminants to the recycling process. If you put these in your bin, your bin may not be emptied. You will need to remove these contaminants before your bin can be emptied. You may be charged a fee to collect your bin.

Wheelie bin maintenance

Should your wheelie bin be damaged or have broken parts (e.g. cracked or missing lids, pins, wheels and/or axles), contact us and lodge a customer request.
