Peranga Hall

Improving access in our community halls

This project continues the program of work to refurbish community halls throughout the region. These activities typically includes bringing these key community facilities up to modern standards including providing access for people with a disability.

This program is coordinated from Council’s Access and equity plan.

$400,000 has been allocated to this project for the 2018/19 financial  year. Two halls that are planned to receive refurbishments during this time are:

  • Hodgson Vale Hall
  • Jondaryan Hall

Start and target completion dates

This program of works continues each year subject to budget allocation.

Stakeholders will be notified in advance of planned activities.

Town community centre maintenance

Council owns many buildings that provide essential services and facilities in all our towns. While not a comprehensive list of maintenance activity, the following projects are worthy of note for the 2018/19 financial year:

  • Pittsworth Town Hall
  • Crows Nest RSL Hall
  • Millmerran Community Centre hall floor replacement - Following on from the works to stabilise the footings of the Melba Theatre, Council is investigating an engineering solution to level the internal floor of the Millmerran Community Centre. Options on how works proceed will depend on engineering advice.
  • Toowoomba City Hall - Refurbishment of the lead lighting panels and upgrading of back lighting.
