We are constructing a major depot at 24 Nass Road in Charlton. The depot will be a modern, intelligent and sustainable facility to meet the current and future needs of our staff and the communities we serve. The project includes the construction of a central operations and management building, three workshop buildings, a central store, a nursery and a Toowoomba State Emergency Centre Regional Unit and Toowoomba Group Headquarters.
The new facility will include a number of sustainable design elements focused on water and energy efficiency to minimise the building’s environmental impact.
This year will see the continuation of construction of the new Charlton Principal Depot. $55.58 million has been set aside for this new modern, intelligent and sustainable facility to meet the current and future needs of our staff and the communities we serve. Construction is expected to start in mid-2019 and the depot is expected to open in 2020.
Preliminary earthworks were completed in early April 2019. Toowoomba-based construction company McNab Developments (QLD) has been awarded the design and construction tender for the project.
The new Principal Depot provides an opportunity to strategically locate services that, in most cases, were dispersed due to inadequate accommodation.
