The vertical expansion of Toowoomba Waste Management Centre (TWMC) has resulted in the current asbestos disposal area at TWMC no longer being available for asbestos disposal.  As asbestos from commercial customers can't be accepted, customers are required to find an alternative location for asbestos disposal outside of the Toowoomba Regional Council area.

We have commenced discussions with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) and planning officers with the plan to lodge a development application for the re-opening of the Charlton Waste Facility on Leeson Road, Charlton. Should we be unable to obtain development approval for the Charlton site, it is highly unlikely that we will have viable options for the ongoing acceptance of commercial quantities of asbestos. Further information on the project and asbestos acceptance will be released as it comes to hand.

Domestic customers can continue to dispose of asbestos at some waste facilities with restrictions. Click here for information on your local waste facility.
