Do you want to develop but don’t know where to start? There are a number of options that may assist you with gathering the advice you need. To assist us in helping you when contacting Council, please provide as much information as possible to get the best and most accurate advice.
1. Research key facts about your property
Research key facts about your property to learn what can be done on your property using Council’s interactive mapping tools and the Toowoomba Regional Planning Scheme. Steps on how to use these tools can be found in our 'Key facts about a property' article.
2. Request advice from Council's Technical Advice team
Council has a Technical Advice team available through the Customer Service Centre. This team can provide you with preliminary advice on the zone of your property and what kind of development application would be required. This would also include the requirements of submitting an application. The Technical Advice team is available between 8.30am – 5pm at the Customer Service Centre at 4 Little Street, Toowoomba, or via phone. See Contact Council for further information.
3. Book a pre-lodgement meeting
A pre-lodgement meeting is a free meeting between prospective applicants and Council technical staff to discuss a development proposal prior to the formal lodgement of a development application with Council. 4. Request professional assistance
There are many professionals externally to Council who can also assist with advice and making an application. This could include a town planner, surveyor, building designer or builder.
