We're committed to ensuring the sustainable development of transport in our Region. The economic strength of our Region, the health and welfare of our residents and the state of the environment are all linked to the transport system.

Sustainable transport is about making the best use of our current systems ensuring we serve the needs of our community, making our Region is an attractive, healthy and affordable place to live.

A refresh of the 2014 Sustainable Transport Strategy was adopted by Council in 2022. The refresh builds on the objectives outlined in the 2014 Strategy and ensures the transport system is fully integrated with the principles contained within our Corporate Plan and other strategic planning documents for the Toowoomba Region. It also recognises and responds to current and emerging challenges and opportunities.

The aim of the 2023 TRC Sustainable Transport Strategy is to:

  • reduce our reliance on the private vehicle
  • provide more travel and accessibility choices for our residents
  • improve regional connectivity
  • leverage technology to benefit integrated traffic management and the environment.
