Toowoomba Regional Council is planning to carry out a systematic smoke testing program of the Toowoomba Sewerage Network covering the following area:

  • Meringandan – all sewered areas
  • Meringandan West – all sewered areas
  • Crows Nest; west of Junction Street, North of Nolan Street, Curnow Street and Creek Street
  • area south-west of Highfields Road/Kratzke Road.

This inspection program will commence on 15 July 2024 and will continue for approximately 2 months. Council will advise the property owners via post of the exact dates/locations of smoke testing.

The inspection process involves the pumping of a non-toxic white smoke into the sewer and observe where smoke leaves the network. It is normal for this to be visible from sewer vent pipes, however it should not enter homes or businesses.

Council regrets any inconvenience caused during this time.
